Lewes,DE Family Beach Portrait

Monday, August 25th, 2008

Photographing large family  beach  portraits can be a  real challenge. First sand and salt water are the cameras worst enemies. Everyone wants the best weather for there session and most sessions are shot in the early evening when the LIGHT IS JUST RIGHT….. This  all leaves little room for error and you must work fast to get all of the images made. When family pets and small childern are invloved the sessions can become even more complicated and challenging.  Last week I had the please of meeting and photographing a part of the Reardon family on Lewes Beach.. We had 3 separate familes within the family to photograph and then the group as a whole.. Everyone cooperated nicely (including the weather) and I then had everyone gather on the beach for a FUN,last gathering before the sun set and a way to relax and wind down after our sessions. Thanks to the Readons

Just to give you an indication of how long I have been making photographs for hire, I came across this image I made of NOW Vice Presidential nominee Joe Biden  with his wife Jill (far right) and Then President Jimmy Carter in Wilmington,DE. I can not remember why Pres. Carter was in town, but I do remember him giving some type of policy speech. This photograph was taken on February 20,1978 while I was working as a freelance photographer for the Philadelphia Bulletin newspaper. How time flies…………

Rehoboth Beach Aerials

Friday, August 22nd, 2008

After waiting almost 2 weeks for the”right day” I finally got into the air via an Enstrom helicopter to shoot a number of assignments for George and Lynch, Pano Development and Christiana Excuvating. On the way back to the studio we flew along the coast and I had a chance to capture some images of the Dewey and Rehoboth Beaches during the busy tourist season. I have posted one of the images I made at the end of Rehoboth Ave. for your viewing pleasure.

Nancy Lopez LPGA Hall of Famer

Friday, August 15th, 2008

Each summer for the  past 17 years I have donated my photography services to the” Swingin With A Star” charity Golf Tournament held at the   DUPONT Country Club. The  event helps Delaware programs for girls and women. Each year an  LPGA star participates in the event and this year she was Nancy Lopez former Hall of Famer. I would like to quote from recent letter I received from Carol Burger(a founding member)and Exec. Comm. Chair.  Dear Eric, You are part of the heart and soul of our”Swingin With A Star” golf tournament for women. It’s really amazing to know that we’ve actually been at this for seventeen years because when we started the tournament everyone said that an all womens event would never work. Thanks so much Eric , for donating your time and considerable skills.  Carol Burger.   I must say I look forward to the event each year and know the proceeds are going to great causes here in Delaware.

Aerial Photography From A Helicpoter

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

One of the special services we provide at Crossan Studios is aerial photography and when using the helicopter to make the photographs this adds a bit of excitement to each assignment.. In the case of last Saturday the Enstrom helicopter landed and picked me up at our Townsend studio..Planning is a large part of the job.. Trying to get the best weather day and the helicopter on the same day can be very challenging. Then you need to know where each site is located and what are the important  aspects  of that job to show in the photography. On Saturday we were shooting for George and Lynch Contractors out of Dover,as well as Christiana Excavating of Newark and Pano Development of Newark.
