Studio Beach Portraits

Have you ever wanted a cool family portrait at the beach but didn’t want to fight the traffic and have to worry about the weather being right when you got there. Here at Crossan Studios outdoor studio we have made a beach that includes a dock and water as well. Not only do you get the beach look but the money you will save will surprise you as well. I photograph beach portraits on St Croix USVI beacheswhile staying at our Oceanfront condo in St Croix, the Seabreezegetaway, and at the Delaware Beaches and yes the Ocean is there but usually we either get the sand dunes or the ocean in the photographs, not both. Ag Stock USA Bio

After traveilng around the country for clients such as DuPont, ICI Americas,Rohm and Haas, and Successful Farming Magazine photographing our countries beautiful rural areas, farms and farmers I decided to turn my Ag photo library over to Ed Young who had started an Ag stock photo business, AG Stock USA . Now companies from around the world can see my work and purchase images for their advertising and editorial needs, along with work from other photographers around the country and world. Ed was kind enough to feature me last week with a short bio to go along with my work. I met so many interesting people while shooting these assignments and miss it for sure.

Geocaching on St Croix USVI

It’s one thing to visit or vacation on a beautiful Island in the Middle of the Caribbean. And on St Croix in the USVI’s there is plenty to see and do both on land and in the water. But recently our guests at The SeaBreezegetaway condo brought a handheld GPS with them and toured the Island while searching for some of the 14 geocach sites located on the Island. Not only is it fun but you will surely visit places and learn more about St Croix than if you were just sitting on the beach drinking a rum punch. I made this photograph of a couple who located the geo cach at the Ham’s Bluff Lighthouse on the Islands Northwest end. Happy Hunting

Cape Henlopen Aerial

After all the snow,rain and wind the weather finally broke and we had a great day for shooting aerial images in Sussex county,DE. One of my favorite places to fly over and shoot is Cape Henlopen State Park near Lewes,DE. The ever shifting and migrating sands make it a very interesting place. Aerial photography

Blue Moon Over The Caribbean

Before leaving for my last trip to the Seabreeze in St Croix ,USVI I purchased a 100 – 400 mm canon zoom lens . After a month and a half I used this lens more than any other. On the last night of January a rare Blue Moon was very visible and bright all night long. I did a google search to find out the approx. time then moon would set and set my alarm. At about 5:45 AM where we are used to watching the sun set was a hugh redish ball sinking into the Caribbean, the moon. How cool .. Al long exposure and very high ISO with the zoom cranked out to 400mm made the image . Hope to post this with others in a gallery at www.photographstcroix.com, From one extreme to another I decided to experiment with my 16mm fisheye lens in a protective watertight bag and try to make some in water/out of water images. It took a while but I finally made a few nice images including this one of a nice brain coral right in from of our rental condo the Seabreeze

nature photography workshop St Croix USVI

Today,Saturday I had the opportunity to conduct a nature photography workshop on St Croix in the USVI. It was held at the “SEA”’s Southgate Coastal Reserve on the Islands North East End. Approx. 10 participants interested in expanding their knowledge of photography came and I explained items such as outdoor fill flash, use of polarizing filters, ISO settings, etc. A lot of questions were asked and each on answered. This was the second workshop I have held here and hope to come back again

Architectural Interior Panoramic

On a recent assignment in St Croix, USVI our photography studio,Eric Crossan Photography,photographstcroix, was asked to photograph the interior the grand salon at Mill Point which is built around a 1700’s sugar mill. But it was no ordinary request. The Property manager asked that the final photograph include the salon,kitchen and dining area. Even with my widest perspective correction lens I could not come close to capturing the entire space. So I made 2 images and stitched them together to create one spectacular final image. This is a perfect example of what a professional photographer can do to create an exciting image to help promote, advertise or sell a property.

A frequent sight to travelers along Rt 71 or Old 896 south of Middletown is the hugh heard of Deer that hang out and graze on the St Andrew’s School Property. Today the soybean field’s were being harvested and the deer were out in force to browse the leftovers.

is the hugh heard of Deer that hang out and graze on part of the St Andrew’s School Property. Today the soybean field’s were being harvested and the deer were out in force to browse the leftovers. Two herds of over 20 each were grazing within a 1/2 mile of each other/.

With combines and trucks still in the field the St Andrew's deer enjoy the soybean harvest
