Cape Henlopen Aerial

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

After all the snow, rain and wind the weather finally broke and we had a great day for shooting aerial images in Sussex county,DE.  One of my favorite places to fly over and shoot is Cape Henlopen State Park near Lewes,DE. The ever shifting and migrating sands make it a very interesting place. Aerial photography

Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge

Monday, November 16th, 2009

With temps. in the 70’s and a clear sky all day my guess was we were going to have a killer sunset.  I decided to pack my new(used) 100-400 Canon zoom lens up and give it a workout at Bombay Hook Wildlife Refuge

near Smyrna,DE.  I didn’t arrive until 4:30 and was one of probably 25 others there to experience and photograph the sometimes thousands of ducks and geese that stop to take refuge at the refuge.  By 5pm the action was starting and the sun was going down. By 5:15 it was almost dark but the colors in the sky were awesome as the birds moved about. Then it was dark and the mosquitoes were tearing me up. So it was time to head home.

Crazy Hail Storm

Tuesday, June 9th, 2009

Using our property as an outdoor studio, Karla and I spend a lot of time caring for and planting flowers and shrubs. It’s really beautiful when the sun shines and the summer breezes blow by.  Then all of a sudden as the heat builds ,like today Tuesday June 9th,the late afternoon sky darkens and the wind starts to blow, the thunder and lightning follow.  Unexpected was a 20 minute hail storm that was the longest and most I have ever seen in my life . It actually poured off the roof and laid in piles covering flowers and ruining many others. While things could have been much worse, we did loose a lot of what we have worked on this spring in our garden and around the studio grounds. Oh well., tomorrows another day..hale211hale081hale261

Cape Henlopen State Park

Thursday, October 16th, 2008

Some times we get so wrapped up in our day to day activities that we forget to stop take a breath and look around at what our Great state has to offer. Last weekend Karla and I decided to head out to Cape Henlopen State Park near Lewes to walk and bike for a change of scenery and enjoy the wonderful variety of plant and wildlife the park has to offer. There is something different and of interest at every turn and for everyone. You can walk.jog, rollerblade, skateboard, bike or swim. From the highest natural dune between NY and NC to a deer grazing on the old parade grounds the area is truly a diamond in the first state.
